Gastric Sleeve |  2009 My Life Before Bariatric Surgery Being overweight made my life difficult. Even though I was young, I was on the verge of having major health issues and already experiencing high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I was exhausted all of the time and running around after my daughter wasn't really possible.

I was treated poorly because of my weight. People really are not nice to obese people. It has been six years since my surgery and I sometimes even forget what it was like... I'm not that person anymore.

Making the Decision: 

I decided that I wanted to live to see my daughter graduate and have children. I'm her only parent and I need to be here for her.

My Barix Clinics Experience: 

Barix is fantastic! They made weight loss surgery quick and easy by covering all the bases quickly and efficiently. My surgeon is fantastic. He took the time to explain all of the types of surgeries so that I really understood. He took great care pre and post-op too and I have not had one problem with my sleeve.

I still live by the Barix Clinics’ recommended diet and I walk everyday.  

My Life After Surgery: 

My life has changed dramatically since surgery. People close to me say that they have a hard time remembering the “old” me… it's incredible. Now, I lead a healthy active lifestyle, walking 10 or more kilometers daily even on the coldest of days in the winter. I got married and had another child. My daughter has grown into a fine young lady and she loves being a big sister.  

To Someone Considering Bariatric Surgery: 

Don't be afraid. It’s a big step in the right direction. The ride will be bumpy and uncertain, but it'll be the biggest thrill of your life. It’s time to start REALLY living!
