BARIX CLINICS Reviews - A Proven Record of Success.

“I now enjoy exercising without joint pain. My blood pressure is normal and I am officially free of sleep apnea--which even amazed my doctors.” –Gary C.

NIH National Consensus Statement Endorsing Bariatric Surgery.

Weight loss surgery or bariatric surgery has been performed for more than 30 years, but in 1992 the US National Institute of Health hosted a medical conference from which they published a NIH Consensus Statement endorsing two weight loss surgery procedures, the vertical banded gastroplasty and the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure, as being effective for the treatment of morbid obesity. This publishing of the NIH Consensus Statement marked the beginning of modern bariatric surgery, because this body of medical experts reviewed the various weight loss procedures being performed and determined that the scientifically-proven effectiveness of the gastric bypass and VBG merited their endorsement. In addition they recommended a comprehensive post-recovery program for bariatric patients, including nutritional counseling and long-term medical follow-up.

Another breakthrough came in 2005 when federal Medicare officials recognized and approved gastric bypass surgery. This decision resulted in favorable attention from insurance companies, who increasingly accepted weight loss surgery as a covered procedure. Meanwhile, many other reputable medical groups have drawn their own impressive conclusions. One report* issued by the American Heart Association states, "Only surgery has been proven to produce substantial, sustained long-term weight loss.”

At Barix we’ve confirmed those findings thousands of times, with thousands of patients who have put their obesity days behind them. We invite you to call for a consultation with one of the surgeons, and start your own weight loss success story today.

"Let me tell you, I am loving life. I work out 4-5 times a week at a local gym, play on a women's weekly volleyball team, and have become much more active. Every day I find something amazing about being thinner.   We recently returned from a family vacation to Florida. I loved being able to ride the roller coasters with my daughters. Hearing their laughter and screams on the rides was my reward for my weight loss." --Kelly T.
